Mersin Museum presents the archaeological heritage of the city and the region in chronological order in its modern building opened in 2017. The collection, stretching from the 9000-year uninterrupted settlement layers of Yumuktepe Mound to finds from Soli Pompeiopolis, Elaiussa Sebaste and the Cilicia region, is rich in stone works, coins, glass and terracotta artefacts.
The ethnography section displays Yörük culture, city history and traditional life objects. The museum is toured with MüzeKart; setting aside 2-3 hours for the whole collection is advisable.
