Göksu River and Delta — Mersin
Göksu River and Delta — in Silifke district. A river rising in Toroslar, flowing through Silifke and reaching Akdeniz; the bird sanctuary in its delta is an important nature area.

About
The Göksu River rises in the Taurus Mountains and flows through the city centre of Silifke before emptying into Akdeniz near Taşucu. Its section inside the city offers some of Silifke's most beautiful views with the Roman-era Taşköprü bridge and the promenade over it; it is famous for the breeze that cools it in summer.
The Göksu Delta, where the river empties into the sea, is an internationally protected wetland hosting more than 300 bird species, flamingos in the lead; in winter it is one of Turkey's prime spots for birdwatching. In the upper basin it shares the same route as Yerköprü Waterfall and Alahan Monastery.
